These ratings are locked and reflect the final regular season Z-Ratings.
They will not change as postseason results come in.
The Regional Z-Rating ranks the four regional fields by overall strength. Each regional is made up of four sectional champions — the only teams still playing — so the score is a simple average of all four Z-Ratings, with every team counted equally. A higher score means a stronger top-to-bottom field, though that doesn't always mean the most competitive one. A regional with one clear favorite can still rank high even if the title race isn't a tossup.
How Regional Z-Rating is calculated:
Each regional field consists of the 4 sectional champions, seeded by Z-Rating.
The Regional Z-Rating is the simple average of all four teams' Z-Ratings —
every team weighted equally, since all four have a legitimate shot in a 4-team bracket.
A higher Regional Z-Rating means a stronger overall field.
