They will not change as postseason results come in.
The State Final Four brings together the four regional champions. The bracket is set by the IHSAA — Regional 2 plays Regional 4 in one semifinal, Regional 1 plays Regional 3 in the other. Z-Rating serves as the prediction model within each matchup: the higher-rated team in a given game is the Z-predicted winner. A higher Z-Rating reflects a stronger body of work over the full season, though upsets are always on the table in a one-game format.
How the State prediction model works:
The bracket is determined by the IHSAA (Regional 2 vs Regional 4 / Regional 1 vs Regional 3).
Within each matchup, Z-Rating predicts the winner — the team with the higher Z-Rating
is the projected favorite. The State Field Z is the simple average of all four
teams' Z-Ratings — a measure of the overall strength of the Final Four field.
